OUT OF PLATO'S CAVE: A DREAM JOURNEY, PART ONE
This book is the first of two parts. Here is a dream, a story, an entertainment, a fantasy, a journey. It is not a disciplined exposition or scholarly exploration – it has footnotes, but they get into arguments with the author. In stories we find layers and wonders that reach far and deep into the secret ways of our minds and spirits. We read stories, and we find worlds. We find life. We find understanding. We find love. We find the seeds of hope.
Part One of the book takes us through its first five stages of dreaming: of hell and rescue, of wild mathematics, of language, of infinite comedy, and dreams of realities.
The Writings of the great faiths are quoted here in profusion, presented as the most glorious of birdsong. We don’t understand birdsong, even though we think we do. But our spirits gather it in, and it changes us. As with birdsong, so with the sacred Writings that flow always from the Mind of our Creator.
Dip in, wander around. For my many shortcomings in taking this divagating path, may God and readers forgive me.
