DESCENDING ROAD AND ITS WORLD: A SAGA

Starship colonists from Earth crashed on the planet Tarnus and survived for twelve thousand years. Clans, dynasties, and cultures have come and gone, and now the world – called Tarnus by its human dwellers – leaks hints of potent, long-hidden, alien infiltration. Now the planet’s secrets are raising their heads, and a little boy named Andrew gets their attention.

Andrew grows up a pawn in the great underground City of Tarnus, caught in struggle. His fate entangles others in his battle to survive. Underground war erupts in the City. The alien creatures invade human minds and twist human biology. Conflict mounts, drawing clans, classes, corporations, and races into chaotic strife.

The “Descending Road” series is a rich, extended, multithreaded novel, offering you a deep plunge into a world quite familiar and yet utterly strange.

The author tells you in his own voice why he is writing this book.

Here is the text of the voice presentation.

Book One, “Descending Road: Into Stone”, drives the maturing Andrew through rough childhood, brutal youth, and the fate of his family,  into the heart of the monstrous, underground City. Start here: Descending Road: Into Stone.

Book Two, “Descending Road: Out to Sky”, moves through the great City. War rages among rebels, aliens, corporate masters, and shadowy agencies, casting whole communities out as refugees in the Tarnus wilderness, bringing death and sacrifice to drive the story to its conclusion. Continue here: Descending Road: Out to Sky.

A glossary and a range of appendices make up a third book, “Descending Road: The World”, illustrating the rich life on Tarnus. Look things up here: Descending Road: The World.

We can find out about what humanity is facing. One of the aliens in this Descending Road world speaks to us.

Descending Road was once told as a single story. It used a unique digital technology, with immersive virtual-world illustrations. You can go back and get a free ride through this earlier version if you like.
You can get into this older version fast and free online.
You can go virtual and walk through a City setting in 3D.

But now the story is still changing and growing, and if you start with the books as they are now, surprises are unfolding. Here’s one.

More Tarnus books are in the works. If you can’t wait, the story collection Brain Wrecks give you five novella-sized stories weaving in with the novel. Here are samples.
