INTO THE NIGHT 1563 4D Sarr sat silent, waiting, as Jeddin opened his eyes again in the tunnel. Neither spoke after that. When night came, Sarr led Jeddin through the maze to a storm-drain outfall, and pointed into the night. Jeddin jumped down twenty feet, crossed a gully, and climbed onto the road. For the first three hours, while his retinas bloomed hyperopsins for starlight seeing, he just ran. |
