Sarr sat silent, waiting, as Jeddin opened his eyes again in the tunnel. Neither spoke after that. When night came, Sarr led Jeddin through the maze to a storm-drain outfall, and pointed into the night. Jeddin jumped down twenty feet, crossed a gully, and climbed onto the road. For the first three hours, while his retinas bloomed hyperopsins for starlight seeing, he just ran.
