This is the second time this month my car refused to start at my workplace, and I am getting tired of it. I work at a small warehouse office in Al Quoz, and most days I park outside under the sun because the shaded spots go very fast. Around four in the afternoon, when I finish, the car just gives me a weak click and nothing more. The first time, my manager helped with his own car and some cables. This time he had already left, and I stood there for almost ten minutes feeling quite helpless. A guy from the next shop told me I should save a number for emergencies, and later at home I looked online and read about a Jumpstart Service Al Quoz Dubai drivers can call, which made me think maybe I am not the only one dealing with this. Now I am trying to decide the smartest way to handle it, because I see three options and each one has a problem. Option one is to call a helper every time it happens, but if it keeps happening I will spend money again and again. Option two is to buy a new battery, but mine is not that old, maybe two years, so I feel bad throwing it away if the issue is something else. Option three is to buy a small portable booster box and keep it in the trunk. I saw some online for a fair price, but I have never used one, and I am a little scared of connecting something wrong and damaging the car. Has anyone here used one for a long time? Is it easy for a normal person, or do you need to know a lot about cars? Also, I read that heat can kill a battery faster than cold, and since my car sits in the sun for around nine hours, maybe that is the real reason. Is that true? If it is, then maybe buying a better battery will not even fix the problem. I also use the car for very short drives, like fifteen minutes to the office and fifteen minutes back, so I wonder if it never charges enough. A friend said I should take a long drive on the weekend, maybe on the highway for an hour, to give it a good charge. Does that really work, or is it just something people say? Another small thing, I sometimes keep the radio on while I wait for my wife outside shops, with the engine off. I never thought this could hurt the battery, but now I am not sure. I would really like to hear from people who work far from home or park outside all day. What do you do to avoid this problem? Do you test your battery every few months? And how do you know when it is time to stop fixing and just replace it? Thanks for reading, I am open to any advice, even small ones.
